LL-37 Enhance Your Immune System With This Amazing Peptide

2026-03-29 · 16:20 · 3 min read

LL-37 is one of the strongest antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal peptides out there. It already exists in your body, and your levels go up when you're fighting something off. Here's everything you need to know about how it works, what it does, and how to use it.

Where LL-37 Comes From

LL-37 is part of the cathelicidin family of antimicrobial peptides. It's naturally present in your mouth, tongue, esophagus, neutrophils, and epithelial cells.

You'll also find it across the skin, respiratory, digestive, and genitourinary tracts. Your body produces hundreds of thousands of LL-37 sequences naturally.

It plays a key role in your innate immune defense. Levels ratchet up in response to injury or infection, which makes sense. Your body is calling in reinforcements.

One important note. LL-37 production is upregulated by vitamin D. If your vitamin D levels are low, your body can't make enough of this stuff. More on that later.

How LL-37 Works

LL-37 disrupts the membrane integrity of pathogens to neutralize them. It penetrates the cell wall and breaks them apart.

It works across the board. Antibiotic, antifungal, antiviral. It binds to fungal cell walls and interferes with viral replication by blocking post-entry steps.

It also signals your immune cells to get to the infection site. Think of it as a call to arms. Plus it inhibits excessive inflammation by binding directly to pathogens, which helps reduce systemic inflammation in the process.

The Benefits

LL-37 is effective against stubborn bacterial infections that resist antibiotics. Antibiotic resistance is one of the plagues of modern medicine. Bacteria adapt to the drugs we throw at them. LL-37 works through a different mechanism, so it can hit infections that antibiotics can't.

It promotes wound healing and bone repair through angiogenesis (new blood vessel formation) and cell proliferation. If that sounds like BPC-157 and TB-500, you're right. They work in similar ways here.

It acts as a cardioprotective agent by helping prevent atherosclerosis. People ask me about peptides for heart disease and LL-37 is a strong one, especially because heart disease is largely an inflammation problem.

It's used for chronic inflammatory conditions like psoriasis. I haven't tried it for acne yet, but my back has been breaking out from leaning against the sauna wall, so I'm going to test it on myself. Acne is partly bacterial, so the logic is there.

There's also evidence it has anti-cancer properties. I'll leave it at that since YouTube gets weird about that word.

Other uses worth mentioning. Faster recovery from flesh wounds susceptible to infection. Gastrointestinal support and gut microbiota regulation when bad bacteria are running the show. Autoimmune conditions, since those are inflammation-driven and LL-37 helps regulate the immune response.

If I were writing an autoimmune peptide stack, LL-37 would be in it. People keep asking for that stack and I'm working on it.

Side Effects

Most reported side effects are mild. Swelling and tenderness at injection sites are the common ones.

There are rare reports of muscle spasms and general body discomfort. The thinking is that very high doses might overstimulate the immune response. Your lymph glands could overreact if you push the dose too far.

I've never personally seen this at normal doses. The difference between medicine and poison is the dose. Keep it reasonable and you should be fine.

Dosage and Administration

The general starting point is 100 micrograms per day, subcutaneous injection.

If you have a 5mg vial and reconstitute with 2ml of bacteriostatic water, that's 2.5mg per ml. You'd dose a little less than 5 units on an insulin syringe. Use a peptide calculator to be exact.

For acute use during an illness, one to two times per day until symptoms resolve.

For autoimmune conditions or extended infections, run it up to three months and then take a two to four week break. The standard rule of thumb is six to eight weeks on, but extenuating circumstances can warrant longer.

Inject subcutaneously into belly fat for systemic effect. If you have a wound, don't inject directly into it. Inject nearby or somewhere else on the body.

What to Stack It With

Stacks vary based on what you're treating, but here's what I'd consider.

Thymosin alpha-1 for enhanced immune system response.

VIP (vasoactive intestinal peptide) for vasodilation and cardiovascular protection.

KPV for anti-inflammatory effects, especially with skin conditions.

TB-500 depending on the condition, particularly skin issues or wound healing where you want angiogenesis support.

And if you take nothing else from this, take vitamin D. Ideally vitamin D3 with K2. LL-37 production depends on adequate vitamin D levels. Thorne makes good formulations. I take vitamin D every single day regardless of whether I'm sick.

My take

LL-37 is one of the most useful peptides I keep on hand. It's a Swiss army knife for immune issues, infections, and inflammatory conditions where conventional options have hit a wall. If you're dealing with antibiotic-resistant infections, autoimmune flares, or chronic inflammation, this is worth a serious look. Pair it with vitamin D, dose conservatively, and consult your doctor. Nothing I say is medical advice.

Hey everybody, this is Hunter Williams. I hope you were doing amazing wherever you are at in the world. Today's video is going to be everything about LL37. So Ll37 is a very cool peptide. It's probably the strongest antibacterial, antiviral, anti-fungal peptides. it has a ton of different unique properties. What I'm going be walking you through today is everything you need to know about lL 37. the mechanisms of how it works in the body, the benefits you can expect to receive from it, if there are any side effects, what does it use, and then also to what you stack it with as far as other

peptides go. So what I'm going to be doing is just giving you an overview of everything about that. By the time you watch the end of this video, you should know how to order your own LL37 and begin using it. If that is something that you need help with, especially as it relates to being sick or having autoimmune disease or any sort of infection or virus or anything like that. I do have to be careful about what I say because I know they, whoever they are, are listening out there. So that's what today's video is going to insulin syringe, and then also the dosing and frequency for administration.

So if you want a reference guide for how to use LL37, as well as your favorite other peptides, you can download that below. This one's going to be pretty straightforward. Ll37 has a very specific action that it takes in the body and what it helps with. Without further ado, let me pull up my screen and we are going jump into everything we need to know about L L 37 today. So this is going to be LL37, everything to get started. So let's talk about the origin of Ll37. My camera is flipping around, there we go.

Origin of Ll37 is part of the, I will try not to butcher this word, but the cathelicidin family of antimicrobial peptides. It's naturally present in our mouth, tongue, esophagus, neutrophils, and epithelial cells. As with a lot of peptides, not all peptide, but a lotta peptids are actually endogenous to the human body, meaning that they already exist within us. So, LL37 is a peptid that we probably have hundreds of thousands, if not millions of...

sequences of LO37 as a peptide in our body, so it's naturally present again in all those things. It's also found across the skin, respiratory, digestive, and genitourinary tracts. it plays a crucial role in the body's innate immune defense against pathogens and is produced by various tissues including bone marrow cells and gastrointestinal cells. So levels of LL 37 can significantly increase in response to injury or infection. So as with a lot of other things, Ll 37 increases as the body ratchets up its immune defense to an infection or virus or anything else that's going on

about there. microbes that is out there in our body, doing the work, fighting the good fight to try to make sure that we stay healthy and keeping our immune system defenses up. It acts as a key component in the innate immunity-resisting colonization of pathogens, and the production of LO37 is upregulated, which we're going to talk about a little bit later, by vitamin D. So one of the crucial things that As it relates to immune system function, overall health is vitamin D levels and the production of LO37 is upregulated

in the body when we have adequate and optimal levels of vitamin d. So just food for thought there. LO 37 is the only human member of the catholicidin antimicrobial peptide family. And again, it's synthesized by epithelial cells and its production is induced by inflammatory conditions within the So moving along to the mechanisms of action. So basically LO37 works to disrupt the membrane integrity of pathogens to neutralize them. If you can think about pathogens, and again, this is not my wheelhouse per se, but as far as I understand, pathogens basically cells within the body and

LO 37 will penetrate and disrupt, the integrity, of the, membrane of these pathogens. Basically neutralized them, Again, like I said, it exhibits broad spectrum antibiotic, antifungal, and antiviral activity within the body. So basically it binds to the cell walls of fungal pathogens and affects their integrity, then interferes with viral replication by inhibiting post-entry steps. And this induces chemokine production and leukocyte recruitment via Rho-GTPase activity.

And, this regulates pro and anti-inflammatory cytokines production. LL37 also operates through G protein couple receptors, which are known as GPCR and MAPK signaling pathways. An Ll37 will promote immune activation and recruits immune cells to infection sites. So think of this as basically like a signaling agent to the body to say, Hey, immune cells, let's get moving. Let's call to arms and get ready to fight whatever's going on with the. Um, it also inhibits excessive inflammation by binding directly to pathogens.

So as a response to a lot of pathogens in the the, body will, uh, upregulate inflammation, we'll have more inflammation with a body. It's gonna help reduce some of that systemic inflammation. It also helps modulate gene expression related to transporters, stress response, and pathogenesis. So basically, this is a pretty handy peptide as it relates to defense and the immune system within the body, to say the least. What are some of the benefits of LO37? For one, it's effective against stubborn bacterial infections resistant to antibiotics.

is no secret in the world today. One of the plagues of modern medicine is antibiotic resistance. So what happens is people are over prescribed antibiotics. I'm sure this happened to me as a child for the time that I had some sort of illness or anything. You get penicillin or amoxicilin, or one of these different antibiotics, I am sure there's thousands out there and your body basically becomes resistant to it because Antibiotics means anti-life, which is a bacterial infection within the body and bacteria adapts.

So as you have antibiotics used rampantly in the population, the bacteria that are basically being killed by the antibiotics become resistant to it and adapt. Um, so basically LL37 promotes wound healing and bone repair through angiogenesis, Which is the formation of new blood vessels and cell proliferation. So what does that also sound familiar with? Well, BPC 157 and TB 500. So I've worked very similar in that sense. It acts as a cardio protective agent by preventing atherosclerosis.

Question, I don't get asked too commonly, but it is out there a lot, is what peptides can help with heart disease? And LL-37 is a really good one, especially as it relates to inflammation with the body because obviously heart disease manifests as a result of too much inflammation. It's also used in the treatment of chronic inflammatory diseases such as psoriasis. So I've actually never used this, but it would be cool to see definitely with psoriasis is that it's usually considered like an autoimmune disease, skin disease or whatever, how it will do with acne as well because, obviously, Uh, at some level that's like a bacterial infection.

So that one thing I'm going to try it on myself because I do have some in my fridge right now. Um, and my back has been breaking out lately. I think I get acne a lot from doing the sauna so much. And sometimes I like lean my backup against the wall in the Sauna and it will, uh, tend to break out after that, probably because i'm so sweaty from working out before I got into the sun and I press up against it. Then that probably just like rubs into that open pores and everything. So I got to do a better job of doing that. But anyway, good to know this as I was doing research for this, that that's not like a use case that I often see, but it could be beneficial.

Well, here we go. It exhibits anti-CANCER properties against various types of that C word. I'll kind of leave much to the imagination there because that's one of those things that immediately will get your YouTube channel flagged or whatever, but I just leave it at that. There is evidence to suggest that it exhibits anti-C word properties. It also enhances cardiovascular health by reducing the risk of myocardial infarctions.

Um, it can be used to accelerate recovery from injuries. especially wound flesh injuries that are susceptible to bacterial infection. It does really, really well without, so you ever have like a deep flesh wound or something like that. Absolutely no question shadow without throwing a little 37. There have been instances of it relating to treat gastrointestinal issues and regulating gut microbiota because of being able to stop the antibacterial anti-fungal, which in a lot of cases people are overridden or overrun with poor,

nasty gut bacteria. So this could help upregulate the body's defenses. In a lotta cases, you look at autoimmune diseases, and this is one that is really well used and researched in people with autoimmune disease because it is a result of inflammation in the body. And it helps up regulate the bodies immune system and auto immune disease is like the immune, attacking itself. So, you know, if I were to write the auto-immune peptide stack, this would definitely be in there.

I know that's something people have been requesting, I'm working on it, but LL37 works great for that. Um, it may play a role in preventing and treating skin and wound infections. Like I said, so, um, obviously if you have a flesh wound or a big open sore or cut, do not inject LO 37 right into it, but you could inject it subcutaneously. It would help. Or if he can inject near the site. So if I had a cut on my arm, like right here, I would probably inject. You know, somewhere like up here. Not like on directly on the flesh wounds. Um anyway, there is that so very, very powerful.

One of those like Swiss army knife type peptides. The majority of side effects relate to peptide being ineffective or unable to resist infection. So some users report mild issues like swelling and tenderness at injection sites and more significant adverse reactions include spinal muscle spasms and general body discomfort. Side effects are generally not severe. Honestly, like I was looking up side-effects that came up in the research, but I haven't heard that or experienced that myself from using it. Users have reported diverse experiences highlighting the need for caution. Obviously, it's one of those things like the difference between a pill and a poison as a dose.

So it's not like you're going to harm yourself, but you just may have, you know, kind of when we're talking about the immune system, this response reaction, the same way if you would take too much antibiotics or anything like that. So resistance development in pathogens during high LL37 concentration and diseases like psoriasis. And the reason is like, if you, the thought is with this one, um, If you have too much LL 37 in the body, it could basically be like a signal that something's like really wrong. Um, so that's where there's, like rare cases.

Like I mentioned here of adverse effects on lymph glands and systemic reactions can happen. So we don't really know too. But I think the school of thought around this is that like if. You have to much, LR 37 is basically like oh, The immune system needs to shut down. could tend to like have like an overreaction to it of the body, like trying to up-regulate immune defenses too much. Um, but you know, at low doses, I have never seen anything like that. And it's only been helpful and dosage. So the general recommendation starts with a hundred micrograms per day.

For instance, if you had a 500 or five milligram vial, you would put two milliliters of water. It's now 2.5 milligrams per milliliter. a little less than five units on the insulin syringe to dose that. So a very small amount, depending on how much water you put in it, check out the peptide calculator to do your dosing exactly. But dosage may vary based on condition, being treated and individual response. For this one, it's tough to say dosin because you may be using it acutely during like an illness or something at which you just want to use it like one

to two times a day to help offset any of the effects of Um, but if you're using it for like an autoimmune or an extended antibacterial infection or something like that, or a viral infection, I would use it up to three months and then take two to four week breaks off of it. So again, the rule of thumb is say weeks, eight weeks. But if have something extenuating circumstances you'd want to use, it I'd definitely throw this in. use it for like three months and then take a two to four week break. Obviously consult with your doctor. Nothing I say is medical advice and it should not be adhered to as such.

But you know, the obviously method of menstruation is going to be subcutaneous injections. You can just inject it sub-cutaneously into the belly fat to get a good systemic use out of it. So obviously this is up to you and you're widely varied, but starting point is usually like a hundred micrograms per day. This is definitely one like, again, if you use the whole vial, is it going to do anything? Probably not, but just be cautious with the dosing because there are that tendency, there is that, you know, rare case situation where like the lymph glands can overreact to it. So I would just say just, as with anything, use caution when you're doing it, Now, what peptides should you stack it with?

So again, this is kind of depending on the disease. Like within autoimmune disease, there's so many different things. Within bacterial infections, are so may different. Things within viral infections. There's some many things, but I would say, you know, generally speaking, What I do is use thymus and alpha one for enhancing the immune system response. I use VIP, which is vasoactive intestinal peptide for its vasodilation and myocardial cardiovascular protection. And then I would use KPV for anti-inflammatory properties, especially as it relates to skin conditions.

So I'm going to be making videos about both of those. I already have one on diamonds and alpha one, but you can check out the videos on VIP and KPB coming soon, so stay tuned for that. And this is going into basically enhanced therapeutic effects. All these work synergistically together. Now, what I will say is that you absolutely 1000% if you are not already doing it, suffering from one of the conditions that you would need to use LL37 for, you want to combine it with vitamin D. So ideally that would be vitamin B3 with K2.

You can find many great formulations from like Thorne or any other multivitamin company out there that makes good products and actually sells what they say they sell. But I would absolutely always use vitamin d in the case of anything. I take vitamin every single day. you know, but use it if you are suffering from one of those things and it's only going to help you. So obviously stacking varies widely. And then also too, I threw in like TB 500 depending on the condition, obviously like skin condition can help with the angiogenesis to um,

whatever skin or, you know, infection or a wound injury that you may have. So all of those work really well together. And that would be like a pretty good auto immune stack with a, pretty like antibacterial stack. If you have like an infection, antiviral stack, and then anti C word, if you. Uh, anything going on with that. That is it for the slides. And that's pretty much everything you need to know about LL37, how to use it, what you would use for.
