Best NON-GLP Peptides For Fat Loss

2026-03-30 · 22:49 · 5 min read

One of the most common questions I get is what peptides to use while cycling off a GLP-1. Smart GLP-1 use means cycling on for 8 to 16 weeks, then taking a break so you stay receptive without having to keep cranking the dose. Here are my favorite non-GLP-1 fat loss peptides to bridge that gap and keep your momentum going.

Why You Need a Bridge

Stay on a GLP-1 too long and you'll have to keep increasing the dose to get the same effect. That gets expensive fast and burns out your sensitivity.

Best practice is to run a pharmaceutical dose for 8 to 16 weeks, then either drop to a microdose or come off entirely for about 8 weeks. The peptides below let you maintain fat loss during that off cycle.

This is not medical advice. Just fantasy fiction roleplay, as I like to say.

SS-31

SS-31 is a mitochondrial-targeted peptide that improves mitochondrial function and reduces oxidative stress. It also helps with insulin sensitivity, which supports fat loss indirectly.

A 2011 study in aged mice found SS-31 improved metabolic profiles and reduced oxidative stress. I've used it personally and noticed real benefits.

For chronic disease or severe mitochondrial dysfunction, you'd run 10 mg per day, but that gets cost prohibitive fast. For fat loss support, 1 mg per day, Monday through Friday in the morning, for 8 weeks works great. I've even seen good results at 500 mcg.

ACE-031

ACE-031 is a myostatin inhibitor. Myostatin has an inverse relationship with muscle growth, so blocking it lets you build more muscle. This is the same mechanism behind those mutant-looking muscle cows you may have seen online.

More muscle means a higher metabolic rate, which means more fat burned at rest.

A 2013 study on healthy volunteers showed ACE-031 increased muscle mass after a single ascending dose. Run 100 mcg per day, Monday through Friday morning, fasted.

Ipamorelin

The classic. Ipamorelin stimulates growth hormone release, which promotes fat metabolism and muscle growth at the same time. Growth hormone really is the nectar of the gods.

A 2010 study on obese subjects found ipamorelin raised GH levels and reduced fat mass. Start at 200 mcg per day, Monday through Friday in the evening. If you're really pushing for fat loss, you can go up to 300 mcg or slightly higher.

MOTS-c

MOTS-c is a mitochondrial-derived peptide that regulates metabolic function and improves insulin sensitivity. There's actually more fat loss research behind MOTS-c than SS-31, and anecdotally it tends to perform a little better for that goal.

A 2015 study found MOTS-c improved insulin sensitivity and increased energy expenditure, leading to fat loss. Some people call it exercise in a bottle. I'd never substitute it for actual exercise, but the mechanism is similar.

Run 5 mg twice per week in the morning. That's usually a full vial per dose, so it's not cheap. In my experience it works better on people who aren't already lean.

HGH Fragment 176-191

A modified piece of growth hormone that targets fat cells specifically. It promotes lipolysis without affecting blood sugar or muscle growth like full GH or ipamorelin would.

A 2009 study showed it promoted fat loss without affecting insulin sensitivity. That's also why it never blew up commercially. It does one job.

Best dose is 500 mcg per day, Monday through Friday in the morning. No illusions that this is a holy grail, but it bridges the gap fine.

Adipotide (FTPP)

Adipotide targets the blood vessels supplying fat cells, leading to fat cell apoptosis. The idea is that it goes to fat cells and kills them.

A 2011 study showed significant fat loss and improved insulin sensitivity in obese monkeys, which is closer to humans than the usual mouse data. I haven't personally used this and can't fully vouch for it. Some people report great results, others not so much.

If you want to try it, 1 mg per day, Monday through Friday morning, fasted.

AOD-9604

Another GH fragment designed to target fat loss. Mechanistically similar to HGH Fragment 176-191 but pound for pound more powerful in my opinion. Plenty of people stacked this with semaglutide back in the early GLP-1 days before we had better options.

A 2009 study showed it promoted fat loss in obese subjects. Run 300 mcg per day, Monday through Friday in the morning.

It won't match retatrutide or tirzepatide, but it keeps your metabolism humming during your off cycle.

Tesamorelin

Saved the best for last. Tesamorelin is a growth hormone releasing hormone analog that boosts your body's natural GH production. Out of every non-GLP-1 on this list, this is the strongest for fat loss in my opinion.

Where it really shines is reducing visceral fat, that stubborn lower belly fat a lot of guys deal with. A 2010 study showed significant visceral fat reduction in HIV patients with lipodystrophy. The market reflects this. Tesamorelin is consistently one of the best-selling and most expensive research peptides.

For general lean muscle and GH support, 500 mcg per day works. For real fat loss, 2 mg per day, Monday through Friday in the evening before bed. It tends to help with sleep too.

Honest note. At a 2 mg dose, tesamorelin gets pricey, and if you're resourceful you can get actual human growth hormone for about the same money. But this is a peptide article.

How to Stack and Cycle

Don't use more than two of these together at a time. You could probably run six without serious side effects, but you wouldn't actually know what's working.

Good combos include SS-31 with tesamorelin, MOTS-c with ipamorelin, MOTS-c with AOD-9604, or ipamorelin with AOD-9604. Play with the pairings.

Most of these are also fine to run alongside a GLP-1. But the main use case is this. When your 2.5 mg GLP-1 dose stops hitting like it used to, that's your sign to come off. Pick one or two peptides from this list, run them for 8 weeks, then go back on your GLP-1.

That gives you about three GLP-1 cycles per year with bridge cycles in between. You also figure out which of these you actually like, so you can stack a favorite with your GLP-1 next time around.

My Take

The reason most people fail at fat loss is the yo-yo. They lose weight, gain it back, lose it again, then quit. Peptides are the only thing I've seen that consistently lets people see results and stay pointed in the right direction.

Tesamorelin is the strongest non-GLP-1 fat loss peptide here, with MOTS-c and ipamorelin close behind. SS-31 is a Sham-Wow peptide, as Jay Campbell calls it, that helps with everything. Pick one or two, run an 8-week bridge between GLP-1 cycles, and you'll keep the momentum without burning out your receptors.

Keep it simple. Don't overcomplicate it.

Hey everybody, this is Hunter Williams. I hope you are doing amazing wherever you're at in the world. Today's video is going to be my favorite non GLP one fat loss peptide. So what I'm going do in this video, is walk through my favourite peptides for fatloss that are not GL P ones. So a very common question I get asked is, Hunter, what are some peptides I can use alongside or while I'm taking a break from my GLP-1 peptide? Because we all know the smart thing to do with the GLp- 1 is to use it for, you know, 8, 12, 16 week cycle, and then potentially take a few weeks off in

between to make sure that you remain receptive to the effects of the peptid without having to increase the dose to a crazy high amount like I see all the time from people. So that's the Smart Way to Use GLPs-Ones. But in the interim of us taking a break, there are other peptides that we can use in lieu of the GLP-1 to help accelerate or maintain the fat loss momentum that you've gotten using a GLp-one. So today I'm just going to walk through very simple, my favorite non-GLP one fat-loss peptide, basically the mechanisms,

the benefits, and then also the dosage for them. And just remember, this is not medical advice. It is just fantasy fiction role play, as I like to say. Also, too, what I'll do for this video is if it gets 500 likes, and the reason I do that is just because it takes a lot more work on my end, I will turn the slides into a PDF and then make a link that you can download those so you have as a study guide or print off or however you want to use it just for future reference. What I also do is make sure that can you download that to save on your computer or whatever.

Um, just hit the thumbs up. It'll get 500 likes. I'll do the extra work for that. And then also to remember to check out the peptide cheat sheet down below that I will sign you up for the email list and also check how fully optimized health. That's our private membership group with about 500 people in there now that, um, are living their best biohacked life. So without further ado, I'm sure my screen and we're going to learn about the non GLP one fat loss peptides today. All right. I am Hunter Williams and these are my favorite non-GLP one of fat loss peptides. So let's jump into it. Here's the problem. Like I said, GLP, one peptide to work amazing for fat.

Um, however, if you stay on them for too long, you will eventually have to increase the dose to get the same effect, which is why, um, Jay Campbell, myself, uh, and experimenting with these peptids on ourselves and the thousands of people we've coached, we found it's best to cycle on and off of them or. maintain a, what we would call like a pharmaceutical dose and then go down to a micro dose in between so that your body does not get so accustomed to the peptide and build up a tolerance to it. So the best practice cycle off after eight, 12 weeks for four, eight to 12, weeks, however long you determine based on your needs to basically just maintain

your sensitivity to peptides. And also too, you don't have to spend a bunch of money increasing the dose every eight weeks to get the same effect. So that is the main problem. And the solution is to potentially use other peptides. Now I say this not because peptide are the end all be all or a panacea, but because there are other peptides that can kind of help carry the momentum of your fat loss journey that you've, potentially got starting with GLP ones. Um, so as to not lose it so that, kind get benefits of, some of these other fat loss peptides while cycling off a GLP-1.

You can potentially also use them with them. I'll talk about that in another video. But basically we use these while you're cycling of GLPs ones to help maintain that momentum. So without further ado, let's get into the peptide. My first one is not specifically a fat-loss peptid, but in my experience, it's proven to work pretty amazing just for mitochondrial health. because of what it does for inflammation in the body and also helping with energy levels, it's going to allow you to indirectly burn more fat in a meantime.

And there's also a lot of evidence suggests that it even does help with things that go along the lines of insulin sensitivity, which obviously helps with that loss. So SS31 is a mitochondrial targeted peptide that improves mitochondria function and reduces oxidative stress in And how does it help? So SS 31 enhances cellular energy production and reduces oxidative damage or stress to the cell. Um, so it indirectly supports fat loss through improving metabolic function, which is basically just how our body expands or burns energy.

So, um, a study kind of like backing this up is, uh, was done in 2011. uh, mitochondrial targeted peptide SS 31 enhances mitochondria function, reduces oxidative stress and improves metabolic profile in age mice. Uh, and it found the SS 30 one improved metabolic profiles and reduced oxidant stress in these mice so, um, on myself as a lab rat, I have noticed that, uh this works really well. And, you know, have a video about SS31. So, it's, is definitely a sham. Wow. Peptide is Jay coined the term.

I mean, that has a ton of different things and gives a tone of benefits. So if you were looking to use SS 31 to heal some sort of chronic disease or severe mitochondrial dysfunction, the dose would be 10 milligrams per day. Now that becomes very cost prohibitive very fast. However, in someone like myself or even someone that's just looking to lose body fat that doesn't necessarily have a lot of chronic health issues or anything other than obesity and just overall low energy and fatigue, you can use a much lower dose to great effect.

So I would say use one milligram per day Monday through Friday morning. You would basically use it five days on. two days off and I would do that for eight weeks. So I've even noticed for me really good benefits of 500 micrograms a day but if you're coming from using a GLP-1 and you want to kind of sustain that momentum, I love SS-31 alongside a glp-one or off of a Glp1 to help maintain your fat loss momentum. The next one is a little bit different one, and this is called ACE-031.

So ACE 031 is myostatin inhibitor that promotes muscle growth by blocking myostatin. This is the protein that inhibits muscle differentiation and growth. The best way to kind of understand myo statin is that it's an inverse relationship between muscle, growth and myosatin. And so the more myestatin we have, the harder it is going to be going to be to build muscle, but this peptide H031 basically inhibits myostatin,

which allows us to built more muscle. So this kind of got popularized, the idea of myostatin inhibition as a concept got, I think it's from these cows. You'll see that they gave myo statin in inhibitors and the cows turned into just like, super mutant muscle cows like they look like you know superhero cows basically so you can just look up myostatin inhibition cows and you'll see what they looked like but this is kind of like where this idea like took off as a meme in popular culture or at least in the biohacking bodybuilding popular Basically, by increasing muscle mass,

it leads to a higher metabolic rate, which can indirectly aid in fat loss. Side note, I think it's going to be really cool in the future that there's gonna be a lot of GOP ones that get developed that either have like these inbuilt mechanisms for myostatin inhibition or raising IGF or something like that to like increase muscle mass while at the same time burning fat. So it's pretty cool. Um, but by increasing muscle, mass, uh, it going to lead to a higher metabolic rate, which obviously is going help us to burning that. And I think too, again, we look at living the optimized lifestyle with weight training and cardio.

Uh, when we're doing those things, is it to help build muscle in those cases. You'll see this one, a lot of like building muscle peptide list. But it definitely is good, you know, in lieu of using a GLP one for your cycle off. A study in 2013 found that a single dose escalation of ACE-031 in healthy volunteers found an increased muscle mass in those volunteers. So the best dosage for this is 100 micrograms per day, Monday through Friday morning, obviously in a fasted state.

And I would just do that Monday to Friday and take Saturdays and Sundays off. Again, this one is still kind of on the frontier, definitely more lab rat research need to be done, so to speak, but it's definitely commercially available now, and you can find that pretty easily. So the next one is ipamerelin. The age old, stand the test of time, ipamerelin. Basically, the ipamarelin is a growth hormone, it stimulates the release of growth hormones. Increased growth, hormone levels promote fat metabolism and muscle growth at the same time.

That's why growth hormonal is the fountain of youth or the nectar of the gods. as we say, but basically there's a ton of research around epimelan. But a 2010 study found that effects of a novel growth hormone secretagogue known as Ipamerelin on body composition and obese subjects, found it increased growth, hormone levels and reduced fat mass in these obese subject. So for fat loss purposes, I would start with 200 micrograms per day, But you know, if you're really looking to lose weight, you could go to 300 micro grams.

potentially even slightly higher Monday through Friday evening. So I would take it from Maryland in the evening, in this case, while cycling off a GLP peptide. You know, and I talk a lot about using a growth hormone peptides or growth hormones itself alongside of GLp-1. But you could potentially rotate those. And this is something, you know, that like you can use a different growth hormone peptide with the GLP-1, and then when you come off of it, we're going to get to that other peptides in just a second. But the next one is going be MOTC.

So very similar to SS31. MotC is a mitochondrial derived peptid that regulates metabolic functions and enhances insulin sensitivity. So I'll say Matzi, there is more research around Matzie for fat loss than there's SS31 for Fat Loss. So just by the nature of what anecdotal experience reports gives us, Matz is a little bit better for FAT LOSS than SS 31. However, I think there are just going to be more people that have to use SS-31 to really compare apples to apples.

and find out which ones were better. But basically, MATC is really good at improving insulin sensitivity and metabolic function, thereby promoting fat loss. And a study in 2015 found that MAT-C improved insulin-sensitivity and increased energy expenditure leading to fat-loss. So basically it's improving our insulin sensitivty, meaning that we can, I like to think of insulin sensitivities as this. If you give someone 100 grams of carbs, someone that is not very insulin sensitive, they're fat, overweight, sedentary, uh,

is going to process those carbs a lot differently than someone who is lean and who has muscle and is active. Uh, so basically Matzi kind of like the, the coin that's been turned around that is like exercise and bottle. I would never substitute exercise with Matzie. Um, but basically it kind does the same thing. Exercise does, which is improved insulin sensitivity and energy expenditure. So, uh the best dose in my experience is five milligrams, two times a week. Now, again, This is one of those ones that becomes cost prohibitive, so to speak.

Five milligrams, that's usually, depending on the size of the vial, the whole vile. Yes, you would do the entire vials in one injection, two times per week. I have dosage recommendations there. I can't remember off the top of my head. I want to say the cheat sheet dosing might be a little different than that, but if I were using Matzi in this use case, basically cycling off a GLP-1 peptide to maintain my fat loss momentum, I would use a five milligrams two times per week in the morning. Um, Masi, you know, great peptide. And I think too, uh, in my experience, it's one of those that it works better.

Uh, if you are not as lean and leaner people tend to not see as much results. A lot of times they're more mitochondrally optimized. So, um, I think my slide hiccup there. The next one, this one is not like a huge game changer, but it definitely is a fat loss peptide. And I, think again, if we're just looking to bridge the gap and keep the momentum going, it could be good. So this is eight, a lot of people call it HGH frag or frag 1796, or excuse me, 176191. Uh, but the peptide is just called fragment one seven six one nine one.

Uh you gotta love these very, uh, catchy names, I guess, or lack of catchiness. But, um, this one is a modified form of human growth hormone that specifically targets fat cells. So basically just modify the fragment of growth and human-growth hormone. That helps promote fat loss. Um, it promotes lipolysis, which is the fat breakdown without, without affecting blood sugar or muscle growth, like growth hormonal or, you know, ipameralin or some of the other growth hormones peptides do. So a 2009 study found that this peptide promoted fat loss without affecting the insulin sensitivity.

And I think in some cases, you know, like, do you necessarily want that? Maybe, maybe not, depending on your, insulin, sensitivity, but, I, think that's why this one isn't, doesn't sell as well. It's not as popular because of that. But again, we're looking at this in the context of living optimized and just to help keep our momentum going. Uh, so I'd say the best dose is just 500 micrograms per day, uh, Monday through Friday in the morning is when I would take this. So, um, again, make no illusions that this is like, you know, some holy grail, but again we're just kind of looking at the.

On the next one, I've been asked a lot of questions about this now. I personally haven't used this, So I can't really vouch for it. Um, it never really took off though, just because again it's not as strong as some of these other ones. but it's called adipotide or FTPP. So it is basically a peptide that targets blood vessels supplying fat cells leading to fat cell apoptosis or cell death, which in principle sounds really cool, right? So by reducing blood supply to that cells, it effectively reduces fat mass. The thought is it basically just goes to the fat sales and kills the fact cells.

2011 study found that it caused significant fat loss in a improved insulin sensitivity in obese monkeys, which again, much closer to humans than mice, but still, I think relative to trazapotide, there's a reason. Trazaptide sells so much and is so expensive relative adipotides. However, again remember it's about bridging the gap and helping maintain that insulin intensity that the GLP once helped us with and kind of keep the fat loss going. So the best dose would be one milligrams per day, Monday through Friday morning, Um, obviously in a facet state, but, uh,

you know, I've heard people report back to me that they've got good results of this and other people not so much. So, um, it's just one of those things. Like again, everybody is unique and, ah, we all have to experiment with this stuff ourselves. Um AOD 9604 is the next one. This one's definitely, more powerful than some of the other ones we've talked about. AOD 9604 is a fragment of human growth hormone specifically designed to target fat loss. So very similar mechanistically to HGH frag.

Um, so it basically stimulates lipolysis or fat breakdown without affecting blood glucose levels. um, So 2009 study found that promoted fat-loss and OB subjects. so definitely works. I think this one's probably more powerful pound per pound than the HCH frag, A lot of people, even early on in the GLP-1 game, were combining this with semaglutide. We just have better stuff now. But again, it's about bridging the gap. So what I would do is use just 300 micrograms per day, Monday through Friday in morning. And again is it going to be as good as, you know, Retta or Terz?

No, but if we're cycling off of those and you want to stay lean, and have something that just kind of like, you know, calms your fears and helps keep your metabolism high. Definitely good to use in the meantime. So that's what's so amazing about peptides. You know there's, so many different ones that do so different things. We can cycle off and on without really any problem because, one, we're living optimized, but then two, there are all these other ones we have access to. And finally, I saved the best for last when it comes to fat loss because this one really is, out of all the non-GLP ones in my opinion,

The best for fat loss specifically, and really muscle building too, but Tessamerelin is a growth hormone releasing hormone analog that stimulates the release of GH. So basically it works to increase the body's natural production of growth Um, so by increasing growth hormone levels, testosterone, uh, reduces visceral fat in the belly. So where this one shines really is, ah, helping in reducing that lower belly fat that, a lot of people struggle with, but a lotta men. Um. so a 2010 study found that testosterone significantly reduced visceral fat and HIV-infected patients.

That's where, it was first introduced is into the HIV, um, community, where a lots of those guys, I forget the, The name of it, I think it's like HIV induced lipodystrophy or something like that. But basically where they get, because of their immune response, they give a lot of that, visceral fat built up around the lower belly. And this worked really well to help keep that fat off of them. So again, you can kind of look at the market itself, especially in the research world, as a indicator of like what works and what doesn't work.

Tessa Merlin is consistently one of the better selling and more expensive. um, peptides, and this is why, because it does so well to help lower, you know, lower belly fat. Now, um for a fat loss dosage, uh, the dosages is a little all over the place with testosterone, I think for just growth hormone itself, if you're looking to build a muscle, stay lean, you know, 500 micrograms a day could work. But if we're really like, Hey, we need to lose fat right away. I would say two milligrams per day, Monday through Friday, in the evening before bed, because it does tend to help people more with sleep.

So that would be my recommendation is two million grams per. Now I know that can, again, it adds up pretty fast. And, uh, honestly, pound for pound, um, at this point, if you're smart and resourceful, you can get a human growth hormone itself for about the same price as test. And if your doing that dose, which is really the dose that's going to work for fat loss. Um, so that what, I would recommend for most people, but again, this is about peptides, not human. Um, my recommendation for dosage would be two milligrams per day, Monday through Friday in the evening.

So, uh, let's look at cycle links. Um. When it comes to cycle, links, I recommend not using more than two of these peptides in combination together when you're cycling off of your GOP one peptide. Uh, six or seven of. But basically, um, we want to look, you could use all these. Probably not gonna have any like deleterious side effects, but I think that should be dumb because you're not actually tracking what works and what doesn't

So you could use two of these together. You can use like SS 31 and Tessa Morellin You could used MOTC and hypermorellon. you can used motc and AOD you Could use hyper morellion Aod so you like play around with the combos of all of These while you are off of your GLP-1 peptide Most of this you would be totally fine to use alongside the GLp- 1 I wouldn't see any reason not to use any of the ones we talked about today in addition to the GLP-1 strictly from like a mechanism, action standpoint, the body.

But what I would do is when you say, okay, I've been on my GLPs for eight, 12, 16 weeks, whatever it is, but I know I'm getting to a point where that same 2.5 milligram dose ain't working like it used to. That's usually a sign it's time to come off. Now we come, we go to one or two of these peptides that I mentioned today, and then use that for eight weeks. And then you'll be good. You'll get great results. Usually feel really good because of what these do to the body. Then we're going to resume the GLP-1 use after the eight week is up.

The great thing about these is that you get to find out what works for you and you can say, wow, I really liked how SS-31 made me feel. I can actually now put that back in weeks later when I go back on a GLP-1. So that's what I like about this is you kind of figure out like what you like in the interim and then potentially pair that with a glp-one to see what fits with your needs and lifestyle best. That would be my recommendation. So very simple. No need to complicate it more than that. Just use these.

Cycle off of GLP-1 for eight weeks. Use one or two of these in combination for 8 weeks and then go back on your GLp- 1. And then before you know it, how many cycles is that per year? I guess it would two 8-week cycles. It's two months. You do that three different times per-year and there you go. So you're pretty set and you can maintain your fat loss journey and keep your momentum. I think when it comes to fatloss too, like so many people, they falter.

So they go back and forth, you know, They lose weight and they gain it back, then they lose way. And eventually they just give up because they're so tired of yo-yo dieting. We look at like what actually works for people. Uh, I haven't seen anything else like peptides that at least gives people like the ability to see results and then get going in the right direction. Again, that would be my recommendation for best practices. So that is it for the slides. And those are my favorite non-GLP-1 peptides for fat loss. Hopefully that was helpful and kind of covered all your bases.

But I think, like I said, if you go a few cycles of that throughout the year, it will really cover everything you need and hopefully push you into the directory of getting down or maintaining the healthy weight that it is best for you. I appreciate you guys. Thank you so much. If you have questions, comments, or anything like that, I do read the comments. It's just really hard to get back to all of them. But if you questions I definitely get those and then use those for video ideas. Also, too, always forget to mention I have a question link down in the description.

So if have question that you want me to answer on Q&A videos, don't forget put a, question in there. And I'll get them straight to my email and I put them all on a list that I did my Q and A videos for. Make sure, check out the peptide cheat sheet for the dosing on most of these. I don't think every one of this is on the Peptide Cheat Sheet just because some aren't that popular. But what I'd do is check that out. And then also too, if this gets 500 likes, I'll make sure to post the slides as a PDF. link in the pinned comment so you can download that and has a research side.

So as always, thank you guys so much. I am so fortunate and blessed to have the audience and followers, subscribers, and people that I get to help doing this. Thank you, guys, so, much and much love until the next one. Peace.
